Clearwater Place, an architectural masterpiece originally constructed over one hundred years ago, has been completely renovated by our family-owned business that specializes in historic restoration. The restoration earned Clearwater Place the Governor's Award for Historic Preservation. We remodeled the space to highlight the original Romanesque revival architecture--round arches, recessed panels, high ceilings, steel beams, and unique windows-- while incorporating state of the art updates and amenities to make Clearwater Place the perfect venue for your event.

Our History
For over a century, Clearwater Place has stood on Monroe Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Originally the City of Grand Rapids' Drinking Water Filtration Plant, the towering red brick building was constructed in 1912 by George Warren Fuller, the gentlemen responsible for instituting the modern drinking water sanitation system in our country. The architecture was designed as much for form as it was for function, with the red brick building heralding Mediterranean and Romanesque Revival themes.
Situated on a six-acre park-like parcel, the red brick arches, district green ceramic tiled roof and now iconic round water towers not only bolstered the health of the citizens of Grand Rapids but added to the view as well.
The recent historic renovation completely restored the building to its original grandeur. All design was done with complete historical accuracy, preserving this amazing space for future generations and breathing new life into its use as an events venue - now known as Clearwater Place.
